Etienne Aucouturier (Ph. D., Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), is a philosopher and an historian of science and technology. He specializes in the history and philosophy of biology and medicine and his historical and critical research is mainly concerned with issues of public health. In 2011, he defended his doctoral thesis, on which this book is largely based, and was then appointed assistant professor of philosophy at the French University College in St Petersburg (Russian Federation). He was subsequently appointed as Director of the Maison Française of the University of Ghana (Accra, Ghana), on behalf of the French Foreign Office. Since 2017, he has been teaching philosophy and medical humanities in various institutions in the Paris region, while continuing his research.
